Job Summary:

RIT Dubai is currently seeking outstanding candidates with interdisciplinary interests in a wide range of topics in the foundations and applications of future foresight and planning for its new MS in Professional Studies: Future Foresight and Planning program. We are seeking an exceptional individual who is ideally experienced across the domains of scholarship, educational activities and public policy engagement. The candidate is both a scholar and a practitioner of foresight methods. Experience should encompass best practices, evaluation techniques, current and future technologies and innovation. The candidate will have experience or strong interest in reaching a wide audience including graduate students, professionals, policy makers and the general public.

This position reports to the Department Chair and acts as the Coordinator of the program. Duties as Coordinator include the recruitment of additional faculty, recruitment of students to the program and providing curriculum advice to the Department Chair and Provost. Other duties include student advising, participation in committee work, mentoring students’ capstone projects, and helping build relationships with industry and government future foresight organizations. Applied research in futures planning is encouraged.

The new faculty member in Future Foresight and Planning will start in Fall 2020.

Required Qualifications:

•         A PhD in a relevant field.

•         Demonstrated ability to inspire and instruct learners from diverse backgrounds.

•         Ability to communicate in and across multiple disciplinary cultures.

•         Experience with the application and use of foresight and strategic planning methods in diverse organizational settings and among diverse communities.

•         Experience designing courses, curricula, and/or professional training for diverse audiences.

•         Demonstrated capacity for independent, well-regarded knowledge generation.

•         Experience collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines to grow dynamic academic programs.

•         Excellent communication skills.
