AcademicJobs (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is pleased to welcome you to our website located at https://academicjobs.me/ (our “Site”).  Our Site allows and helps you as an applicant to find the perfect job and assists educational institutions or individuals (“Employers”) in their search to find ideal candidates, with other products and services.

These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms and Conditions”) govern your use of this Site, and your agreement is a condition precedent to using our Site.

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before proceeding.

1- BINDING EFFECT

BY USING THIS SITE, YOU AGREE, WITHOUT LIMITATION OR QUALIFICATION, TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, TO WHICH WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES FROM TIME TO TIME, CONSISTENT WITH APPLICABLE LAWS.

- Age Requirements for General Use

You must be at least 18-years-old and fully able and competent to enter into the terms, conditions, obligations, affirmations, representations, and warranties herein in order to access this Site and use our services and/or products. Individuals under the age of 18 are not eligible to use this Site and may not submit any personal information to us. By using this Site, you hereby represent and warrant that you are at least 18-years-old and that you are legally able to enter into any agreement with us and our partners, agents, employers, and service providers.

- Modification to these Terms and Conditions

We will post a notification on this Site in the event of any material changes to these Terms and Conditions. Such changes, whether in the form of modifications, additions, or deletions, shall be effective when specified in the relevant notification or, if the change is immaterial, immediately upon appearing on this Site. Please check these Terms and Conditions periodically for changes. Your continued use of this Site following our posting of any changes to these Terms and Conditions means that you accept those changes.

2- The Policy

AcademicJobs has drafted its Privacy Policy to ensure that you can clearly understand our data and security practices and policies as you use AcademicJobs' website, apps and mobile services (the "Site" or "Sites").

This Privacy Policy describes the types of Personal Data we collect, how we use the information, with whom we share it, and the choices you can make about our collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Data. The phrase "Personal Data" refers to information that personally identifies you, such as but not limited to your name, address, telephone number and other personal details, as well as your email address, qualifications and credit card number or other billing information. Your Personal Data shall also include your videos which will be edited by our team to be more professional before being posted on our Site(s) and shared with potential Employers. We also describe the measures we take to protect the security of your Personal Data and how you can contact us about our privacy practices.

This Privacy Policy incorporates by reference the Terms of Use for the Sites, which apply to this Privacy Policy. When you visit the Sites or provide us with information, you consent to our use and disclosure of the information we collect or receive, as described in this Privacy Policy, unless separate terms are proposed by you in writing and accepted in writing by AcademicJobs.

Personal data (“Personal Data”) refers to any information that identifies you as a specific individual, and non-personal data (“Non-Personal Data”) refers to any information that does not identify you as a specific individual. Please note that at all times AcademicJobs will adhere to the applicable statutory definition in determining what is and is not Personal Data for the purposes of this Privacy Policy. Where this Privacy Policy refers to “information” or “your information” this may include both Personal and Non-Personal Data.

3- Restriction On Use:

Solely for Personal Use

You may browse this Site and all associated content, including, without limitation, any articles or recommendations that we may share, solely for your personal use and benefit.  This Site or any portion thereof may not be reproduced, duplicated, copied, sold, resold, visited, or otherwise exploited for any purpose without our express written consent.

Accuracy of Information as Condition to Site Access

To access parts of this Site or some of the resources it offers, you may be asked to provide certain, sometimes personal, information.  It is a condition of your use of this Site that all the information you provide on this Site is correct, current, and complete holding you exclusively responsible for the completeness, consistency, accuracy, validity and timeliness of any and all personal data and information provided to us or directly published on our Site(s).

Restricted Transmission

You agree not to:

  • Transmit any unlawful, threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane, or indecent information of any kind, including images and language;
  • Transmit any message that constitutes, encourages, or incites conduct that would constitute a criminal offense or give rise to civil liability;
  • Transmit or solicit any information, software, or other material that violates or infringes upon the rights of others, including material that is an invasion of privacy or publicity rights; is protected by copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights; or is a derivative work with respect thereto, without first obtaining permission from the owner or right holder;
  • Transmit any information, software, or other material that contains a virus or other harmful component;
  • Use any software, tool, data, device, or other mechanism to navigate or search this Site, other than generally available browsers or a search engine provided by us;
  • Frame or utilize framing techniques to enclose any aspect of this Site, including any trademark, logo, or other proprietary information (including, but not limited to, images, text, page layout, or form) without our express written consent; or
  • Use any metatags or any other “hidden text” utilizing our name or trademarks without our express written consent.

Additionally, you are prohibited from violating or attempting to violate any security features of this Site. Any violation of system or network security may subject you to civil and/or criminal liability.

4- The Collected Information.

AcademicJobs collects information about you when you use our Site(s). We may also obtain information about you from our business partners, other third parties and publicly available information.

  1. Information from your account, through your activities on the Site(s), or When You Log In or Use AcademicJobs from other Third-Party Sites.

We collect data from you when you create a AcademicJobs account, request information, subscribe for a service, participate in a survey, post a resume, upload content or otherwise actively send us data on our Site(s). This may include your user name, password, first and last name, email address, telephone number (including mobile phone number), street address, occupation, interests, and any other data included in a submitted profile or resume, including but not limited to application materials.

In addition, as part of the standard operation of the Site, AcademicJobs may collect and analyze information from your actions taken on the Site(s), including, but not limited to, your resume, your searches on AcademicJobs, the titles of jobs you search, click on or apply to, where those jobs are located, salary interest or experience, the general salary range or experience level of the jobs you view (where indicated), your activity time on the Site and each page, page views, clicks, taps, session activity, browser type, operating system, type of device, MAC address, IP address and the domain name from which you accessed the Site.

The Site may also track the total number of visitors to our Site, the number of visitors to each page of our Site, IP addresses, external web sites linked to, search terms and the domain names of our users' Internet Service Providers, operating system and browser type, and we may analyze these data for trends and statistics in the aggregate, but such information will be maintained, used and disclosed in aggregate form only and it will not contain personally identifiable information. We also may collect aggregate demographic information. Such aggregate information may be collected from data that you have provided to us via usage of the Sites and/or public records, and is not unique to you nor is it linked to any Personal Data that can identify any individual person. We may use such aggregate information to analyze trends, administer the Sites, track users' movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We may share this aggregate information with third parties, including our affiliated and parent companies, for various reasons related to our business to assist them in targeting advertisements to appropriate audiences.

Finally You may also create an account or log in to your AcademicJobs account using third-party websites including, but not limited to, Facebook or Google. If you do not already have an AcademicJobs account but log in to AcademicJobs using your Facebook or Google account, this creates an AcademicJobs account using the same email address used in your Facebook or Google account. If you agree to provide this information to AcademicJobs, Facebook or Google will authenticate you and redirect you to AcademicJobs’ Site. Please note, when you log in to AcademicJobs using your Facebook or Google account, Facebook or Google will cookie you in order to authenticate you as a Facebook or Google user.

By accessing AcademicJobs through your Facebook or Google account, you understand that Facebook or Google will share certain data detailed above in this paragraph for the purposes of authentication to permit you to access our Site in a secure manner. You may stop this at any point from your Facebook or Google account. This information will be considered AcademicJobs account information for purposes of your use of the Site.

You have the ability to disable the connection between your Facebook or Google account and your AcademicJobs account at any time by accessing your privacy settings on your Facebook or Google account or from your AcademicJobs account. Facebook may also ask for your permission to share certain other details with AcademicJobs, including but not limited to your name, profile picture, public profile information, and email address.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FACEBOOK OR GOOGLE OR ANY OTHER THIRD-PARTY WEBSITE IS GOVERNED SOLELY BY YOUR AGREEMENT WITH SUCH THIRD-PARTY WEBSITE.

We may collect information stored in your social media profile that you authorize us to access when you use your social media profile to invoke features on the Sites. AcademicJobs may provide software applications ("Apps") to be available to the public. If you decide to download one of our Apps, we may collect your profile information, which will be limited to your social network site user ID, email address, name, and picture.

Any Personal Data that AcademicJobs may obtain from other third-party sources will be processed by AcademicJobs in accordance with this Privacy Policy and all applicable laws (in particular the GDPR and ePrivacy Regulations).

5- Information Storage

AcademicJobs shall retain users’ Personal Data to the extent such retention is adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for the purposes for which they are processed. In particular, AcademicJobs shall not retain Personal Data for any longer than necessary to perform the services outlined in this Privacy Policy or under the applicable laws and regulations.

If you create an AcademicJobs account, your information may be collected and stored in a manner that connects to your account email address.

AcademicJobs may also store the information detailed in this Privacy Policy on its equipment or the equipment of third parties that AcademicJobs has a relationship with. Such storage services will be governed by appropriate protections, as required by applicable rules.

6- Limitation of Use or Disclosure of Personal Data

Closing your account or Deleting Job Application

When you close your account, you will no longer have access to any of the data we make available under that account name. If you use the same email address to set up a new account, this data from a previous account will not become available to you again. Please also note that closing your account may result in you losing access to all AcademicJobs products and services.

AcademicJobs reserves the right to keep any materials in a closed account as necessary to preserve and protect its rights to the extent permitted by law (for example, to preserve records of a dispute) or to comply with its obligations under local law (for example, if requested to retain by law enforcement). A closed account does not mean that all of the data is expunged from the AcademicJobs systems, although it will not be readily available under your original account name.

If you wish to access or delete your Personal Data held by AcademicJobs, you should follow the steps listed in this Privacy Policy, and such a request will be processed in accordance with applicable rules.

If you want to delete a job application performed from AcademicJobs’ Site, you are advised to contact us directly by email to request deletion of the application.

7- Purposes and Uses of Information

We may use the information we obtain about you to:

Provide the products or services you request; Maintain a record of the jobs you view or apply to on our Sites or those of our affiliated and parent companies; Inform you of relevant job postings and send you other similar types of marketing communications that may be of interest to you through AcademicJobs or affiliated Sites; Provide administrative notices or communications applicable to your use of the Sites; Respond to your questions and comments and provide customer support; Contact you and deliver information to you that we believe is targeted to your interests (such as relevant services, educational or other career development opportunities); enable you to communicate with us through our blogs, social networks and other interactive media; and solicit your feedback and input; Operate, evaluate and improve our business and the products and services we offer; Perform analysis on the performance and impact of our marketing communications, user engagement and activity with certain features of our website, and the content of user resumes; Protect against and prevent fraud, unauthorized transactions, claims and other liabilities, and manage risk exposure, including by identifying potential hackers and other unauthorized users; Enforce our Sites' Terms Of Use; and Comply with applicable legal requirements, industry standards and our policies, including as is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process (including subpoenas, search warrants, court orders) and law enforcement instructions and orders.

8- Information We Share

AcademicJobs shares your Personal Data with Employers via a job application, and as detailed in section 2 and 4 of this Privacy Policy. Employers agree to comply with all their responsibilities under applicable data protection rules with respect to the collection, processing and storage of Personal Data, as well as providing adequate protection of all data subject rights provided for under all applicable data protection rules. Other than instances in which users opt to provide their Personal Data via a job application, include it in a job posting.

Where you use a third-party integration to apply to a job from AcademicJobs, your application will be processed in accordance with that third party’s terms.

Any resume or job application you or we send to an Employer via a job application may be kept by the Employer, and you should check such Employer’s privacy policy to understand how they keep your Personal Data.

We also share your Personal Data with our service providers, including affiliated companies and our parent company, which are located in jurisdictions outside your own. This helps us in the delivery of our own products and services to you. These service providers may only use or disclose the information as necessary to perform services on our behalf or as otherwise required by law. Any such sharing is performed in full compliance with applicable data protection rules and subject to appropriate safeguards, primarily through the use of extensive data protection agreements, in order to ensure adequate protection of users’ Personal Data. Your data might also be shared with third parties for targeted advertising/ marketing purposes.

AcademicJobs also may disclose specific user information when we determine, in good faith, that such disclosure is necessary to comply with the law, to cooperate with or seek assistance from law enforcement, to prevent a crime or protect national security, or to protect the interests or safety of AcademicJobs or other users of the Sites. This means, for example, that AcademicJobs may honor subpoenas, search warrants, law enforcement or court-mandated requests to reveal a user’s electronic address and identity, or other properly requested information.

Personal Data we have collected may be passed on to a third party  in the event of a bankruptcy or another corporate reorganization of AcademicJobs. In addition, if we are acquired by or merged with another company, or in the event of any sale of assets or other transfer of ownership by AcademicJobs to a third party (whether by merger, sale or otherwise), or any other reorganization or joint venture, or assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any of AcademicJobs’ business, assets or stock (including in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceeding), the Personal Data we have collected may be transferred to such third party as well as such third party’s affiliates and subsidiaries, and may be used by such third party in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

9- Applicants Rights with respect to Personal Data

AcademicJobs users that provide their Personal Data in the EU, and those that provide their Personal Data in any other jurisdictions that adopt laws affording equivalent protections to those in the EU (GDPR and ePrivacy Regulations), may avail of the rights detailed below.

3.1 Right to Rectify, Restrict or Object Processing Personal Data

You may make a formal request to have AcademicJobs rectify, restrict or object to the processing of your Personal Data by sending an email to privacyoffice@academicjobs.me from the email address associated with your account.

3.2 Right of Access to and Portability of Personal Data

You can access most of your data through the site. However, you may make a formal request to access your Personal Data held by AcademicJobs. In order to do so, please send an email to privacyoffice@academicjobs.me from the email address associated with your account, and paste the following sentence in your email: “I am requesting to access my personal data.” AcademicJobs will provide your Personal Data to you in a portable format to allow it to be transmitted to third parties.

3.3 Right to Delete Personal Data

You can delete your data through the site, otherwise a formal request can be made. A formal request can be made by writing to: privacyoffice@academicjobs.me. This email should come from the email address associated with your account. Please include your name and email address in email requests.

10- International Data Transfers

When we obtain Personal Data about you, we will process and store the information outside of the country in which you are located, including in Lebanon. Such transfers are performed in full compliance with applicable data protection rules and subject to appropriate safeguards, primarily through the use of extensive data protection agreements, in order to ensure adequate protection of users’ Personal Data. The services provided to you and the functionality of the Site could not be provided without such a transfer. If you do not wish your information to be transferred in this way you should not use this Site.

11- GDPR Framework

AcademicJobs complies with the EU GDPR and ePrivacy Regulations, use, and retention of personal information from European Union member countries and others transferred to Lebanon pursuant to the mandatory regulations and policies. AcademicJobs has certified that it adheres to the GDPR principles with respect to such data. If there is any conflict between the provisions in this privacy policy and data subject rights under the GDPR principles, the GDPR principles shall govern. Pursuant to the GDPR, EU individuals have the right to obtain our confirmation of whether we maintain personal information relating to you in Lebanon. Upon request, we will provide you with access to the personal information that we hold about you. You may also correct, amend, or delete the personal information we hold about you. In order to exercise these rights, please follow the steps outlined above in this policy. If requested to remove data, we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

As noted in Section 2 (e) of this policy, AcademicJobs may share your data with third parties. If you do not wish for your data to be shared with third parties, please follow the steps outlined in Section 3 above by sending an email to privacyoffice@academicjobs.me and we will delete your personal data and cease the processing of said data.

AcademicJobs’ accountability for personal data that it receives under the GDPR and subsequently transfers to a third party is described in the GDPR principles. In particular, AcademicJobs remains responsible and liable under the GDPR principles if third-party agents that it engages to process the personal data on its behalf do so in a manner inconsistent with the principles, unless AcademicJobs proves that it is not responsible for the event giving rise to the damage. In compliance with the GDPR principles, AcademicJobs commits to resolve complaints about your privacy and our collection or use of your personal information transferred pursuant to GDPR. European Union individuals with GDPR inquiries or complaints should contact AcademicJobs at privacyoffice@academicjobs.me

12- How AcademicJobs protects Personal Data

AcademicJobs seeks to use reasonable security measures to help protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the Personal Data under AcademicJobs’ control. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. In addition, please note that emails, messages sent via your web browser, and other similar means of communication with other users, are not encrypted. Therefore, while we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its security. Please also be aware that we may use third-party cloud service providers that provide hosting, data storage and other services pursuant to standard terms and conditions that may be nonnegotiable. These service providers have informed us or the general public that they apply security measures they consider adequate for the protection of information within their system, or they have a general reputation for applying such measures. However, we will not be liable (to the fullest extent permitted by law) for any damages that may result from the misuse of any information, including Personal Data, by these companies.

13- Contacting AcademicJobs and Complaints

You can direct questions regarding this Privacy Policy or any privacy concerns to AcademicJobs by emailing us at: privacyoffice@academicjobs.me. Please include your name and email address in email requests. We aim to respond in a reasonable time. Our Data Protection Officer will manage your complaint and will give you additional information about how it will be handled.

14- Links to Other Websites

Our Sites may contain links to other websites that are owned or operated by other companies, including but not limited to affiliated third party entities. If you choose to visit any linked websites, we encourage you to review their privacy statements carefully, as they may differ from ours. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of websites that are owned by companies outside of AcademicJobs’ affiliate and parent companies.

Please note that no electronic transmission of information can be entirely secure. We cannot guarantee that the security measures we have in place to safeguard Personal Data will never be defeated or fail, or that those measures will always be sufficient or effective. AcademicJobs seeks to use reasonable security measures to help protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the Personal Data under AcademicJobs’ control. As a user of the Sites, you understand and agree that you assume all responsibility and risk for your use of the Sites and the internet generally, the documents you post or access and for your conduct on and off the Sites.
